How can we help?

We love delivering great food and inspiration for children’s meal times. This page should answer any questions you may have but please contact us if you can’t find what you are looking for.

Choosing Your Meal Kits

The menu

Our menu has 15 meal kits to choose from. We will regularly introduce new meal kits to keep our menu fresh and inspiring, whilst at the same time always ensuring that our most popular meal kits are available – we know children love their favourite meals!

You can choose to view all our meal kits or select from our meal kit categories to help you find what you’re looking for. We highlight special meal kit features so that you can choose the most appropriate meal for your children. These include:

  • Allergen information
  • The cooking skills your children will learn
  • Nutritional information
  • ‘Good source of’ and ‘low in’ information
  • Preparation and cooking time
  • Summary of cooking instructions
  • Comments from our chefs

How much are your meal kits?

The price of your Little Cook Box will depend on how many meal kits you choose. The more you order, the less you’ll pay per meal kit! Delivery is free of charge. Go to our Box Prices website page for more information.

How many meal kits can I buy per week?

Our Little Cook Boxes are available in 4 sizes and contain 4, 6, 8 or 9 meal kits. Simply choose the box size and the meal kits you would like, and then select the quantity of each meal kit to fit your chosen box size. Remember, one meal kit is one evening meal for one child. We currently offer 1 delivery per customer per week, but we may (subject to demand) offer multiple deliveries per week in the future.

Are Little Cook Box meal kits suitable for pre-school children?

Our meal kits have been created with children aged 5 to 11 years old in mind. They are designed to ensure the meals are nutritionally balanced, contain the right number of calories, are of the correct portion size and appeal to the taste preferences of junior school children.

However, all children are unique in terms of their eating habits and nutritional requirements. This means our meal kits may be suitable for some pre-school aged children. Just be aware that there may be some leftovers and please ensure that your children are old enough to eat and digest solid food!

How long do the meal kits take to cook?

All our meal kits can be prepared and cooked in 20-30 minutes; making it quick, easy and fun to serve a healthy, home-cooked evening meal when the little mites are hungry!

What cooking equipment do I need?

You’ll need a conventional oven, and pots and pans for some meal kits. Plus, kitchen basics like bowls, a chopping board and sharp knife. Additional cooking equipment may include the following: cling film, tin foil, non-stick baking tray and rolling pin.

Do I need any additional store cupboard ingredients?

Yes, for some meal kits you will need a few simple ingredients in your store cupboard or fridge to add to the ingredients we provide. These may include; a fresh egg, plain flour, cooking oil, olive oil, butter or margarine. Required store cupboard ingredients are listed on the meal kit pages of our website, as well as on the reverse of our meal kit packaging.

Nutritional information

We calculate our nutritional information based on the ingredients that we deliver, plus any additional store cupboard ingredients required to prepare the meal, before cooking. Nutritional information is displayed on our website and on the back of our meal kit packaging.

Why are meal kits sometimes 'out of stock'?

Our meal kits can sometimes be more popular than we expect or may experience a problem with ingredient suppliers. To prevent disappointing a customer after placing an order, we keep the menu up to date to show you what’s available. If would like a meal kit that’s out of stock, try selecting a different delivery day as we regularly restock throughout the week.

If your cut-off time for amending your order has elapsed and a meal kit is out-of-stock, and if you have indicated that your child does not have a food allergy when creating your subscription, we will substitute the out-of-stock meal kit with a meal kit that we deem to be comparable.

If we cannot select a comparable meal kit as a substitution for an out-of-stock meal kit, we will automatically cancel your order and apply a credit for the full amount to your account. The credit will be automatically deducted from your next order.

Allergen Information

Where can I find allergen information?

Allergen information is clearly displayed on our menu website page and individual meal kit website pages. Allergen information is also provided on the back of our meal kit packaging.

Does Little Cook Box have gluten-free meal kits?

Yes, we regularly have meal kits that are free from gluten products on the menu. However, please note that although these meal kits contain ingredients that are gluten-free, they are stored in a warehouse that also handles gluten products. This means that due to potential for cross-contamination, they may contain small traces of gluten.

Does Little Cook Box have nut-free meal kits?

Our meal kits do not include any nut ingredients. However, please note that we cannot guarantee that our suppliers operate 100% nut-free manufacturing and processing facilities. Therefore, there is a possibility that ingredients used in our meal kits may have been cross contaminated prior to being received and processed by Little Cook Box. If your child has a nut allergy we recommend that you do not buy our meal kits.

Does Little Cook Box have vegetarian meal kits?

Yes, we regularly have vegetarian meal kits on the menu.

Suppliers, Ingredients & Storage

Where are Little Cook Box ingredients sourced from?

We source our products from a variety of suppliers including wholesalers, specialist manufacturers and direct from producers. Before we start working with a new supplier, they must go through a process of vetting to make sure they meet our high standards for quality and sustainability. We regularly visit them to make sure they continue to meet our standards.

Meat & poultry ingredients

We only use meat sourced in the U.K and EU.

The following meat ingredients are accredited for quality, sustainability and animal welfare:

Beef: Quality Assured Beef British, Locally Sourced, FSA Quality Assured

Lamb: Quality Assured Lamb British, Locally Sourced, FSA Quality Assured

Chicken: EU Sourced, FSA Quality Assured

Turkey: Locally Sourced, FSA Quality Assured

Pork: Locally Sourced, FSA Quality Assured

Fish & seafood

We take great care to ensure that our fish and seafood is responsibly sourced and undergo no unnecessary processing. Currently, we use the following fish and seafood in our recipes:

Haddock: sourced from the northeast Atlantic Ocean or Scotland

Salmon: sourced from Scotland/Norway.

Vegetables

We use as much seasonal British produce as possible in our recipes. However, to make sure our menus are consistently varied and interesting throughout the year, we may source vegetables from overseas when necessary.

We take care to ensure your vegetables are as fresh as possible when they arrive in your Little Cook Box. We do pre-prepare some vegetables for convenience; however, these should still arrive fresh as preparation is done on the same day that your order is dispatched from our manufacturing facility.

Storage information

If you do not intend to use your meal kits immediately, please store them in the fridge. Our meal kit ingredients are chosen so they can all be refrigerated, and they will stay fresh and tasty for up to 4 days from the day of delivery.

Our meal kit trays have been designed to fit length ways on a shelf in a fridge of a standard size. You should be able to stack 4 meal kits on one shelf without any problems. Whilst we understand that our meal kits do occupy a significant amount of fridge space, just think of all the space you have saved by not buying all the ingredients in bulk.

We suggest that you plan to use one or two of our meal kits on the day of delivery. This will help with minimising the required amount fridge storage space.

Can you freeze Little Cook Box ingredients and meal kits?

We do not recommend that you freeze our meal kits and the ingredients they contain. This is to ensure that the ingredients stay as fresh and as tasty as possible. However, all our meal kits have up to 4 days of shelf life from your chosen day of delivery. So, when you unpack your box just pop the meal kits in the fridge until you are ready to cook them.

Note: If, in the unlikely event, your Little Cook Box arrives after your chosen delivery date, please dispose of the meal kits. We cannot guarantee that our meal kits have been kept at a food safe temperature for longer than 36 hours following their dispatch from our manufacturing facility.

Please contact us via email, telephone or our website to inform of us of a late delivery and we will organise a replacement order to be delivered as soon as possible. If you prefer not to receive a replacement order, we will credit your account for the full amount of your purchase and the credit will be automatically applied to your next order.

Use by dates

We display use-by dates for each meal kit on the meal kit packaging film. Please check the use-by date prior to using your meal kits.

What if I'm not at home?

No problem! Simply let us know if you prefer us to leave your Little Cook Box with a neighbour or in a safe place of your choosing. We will ask you to provide this information when you place your first order and you can update this information in your account delivery preferences.

Our Little Cook Boxes are insulated to ensure the contents stay at a food safe temperature during the delivery process. We also use a specialist cooling sheets that help to maintain the internal temperature of the box. However, if you state your delivery preference as ‘leave in a safe place’, please include instructions that will ensure your Little Cook Box is left somewhere that is not in direct sunlight.

How do I update my delivery information?

To update your delivery preferences, simply login to your account on our website and click on, My Account and Delivery Preferences in the side menu. Note: delivery preferences including; shipping address, delivery date and where to leave your box when you’re not home, can be updated up to 3 days prior to Wednesday and Friday delivery days, and 5 days prior to deliveries on Tuesdays.

Late deliveries

Your Little Cook Box will arrive between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on your chosen delivery date. We use external couriers and 85% of deliveries usually arrive before 4 p.m.  However, if, in the unlikely event, your Little Cook Box arrives after 8 p.m. on your chosen delivery date, we advise you to dispose of the meal kits. We cannot guarantee that our meal kits have been kept at a food safe temperature for longer than 36 hours following their dispatch from our manufacturing facility.

Recycling

The outer cardboard transit case is fully recyclable. Please remove the polystyrene insulation so the cardboard box can be folded flat and placed in your recycling bin. Or alternatively re-use the carton by turning it into a fun kid’s kitchen.

The polystyrene insulation in our boxes can be recycled by some local authorities. Please check your local authority website for details. If your local authority does not recycle polystyrene, please place in your general household waste bin.

Our sleeve, tray and film lids are recyclable, just be sure they are clean before you pop them in the recycling bin. We recommend using left over dish water for rinsing the tray rather than using additional tap water.

Our cooling sheets are not recyclable due to the technology required to keep your meals fresh in transit. However, you can dry them out before putting them in the bin to minimize the space they take up. Or re-use them in your cool box when you go for a picnic by simply placing them in your freezer to re-freeze them.

Damaged or missing items

If in the unlikely event, your box contains damaged or missing meal kits, please let our Customer Care Team know and they will be happy to help! We can’t provide a replacement, but we will be happy to credit your account for the cost of damaged or missing meal kits. The value of the credit will be determined by the information you provide and following an internal investigation into the issue.

You can edit or cancel an order up to 3 days prior to Wednesday and Friday delivery days (midnight on the previous Sunday and Tuesday respectively), and 5 days prior to deliveries on Tuesdays (midnight on the previous Thursday).  Our website is programmed so that you will not be able to make changes to your order if the cut-off day and time has elapsed.

To edit an order, log into your account where you can view current and future orders. You can change the meal kits your have chosen, upgrade or downgrade the size of your Little Cook Box, change your delivery preferences and update your billing information.

Note. You will not be able to upgrade or downgrade your first order as payment is taken upon checking out. However, all subsequent orders can be amended, prior to the cut-off day and time, to include more or less meal kits.

However, you will not receive any more deliveries after this until you reactivate your subscription.

Why subscribe?

Here are a few reasons why you might like to be subscribed:

  • Reliable deliveries every week means fewer trips to the supermarket, more home cooking fun with the kids and less stress thinking up healthy meal ideas.
  • Children love it when there’s a knock on the door and package is delivered with their name on it – it’s like receiving a weekly present. They’ll be so happy when their Little Cook Box arrives, and they can get cooking their favourite meals with mum or dad.
  • If you don’t have time to choose your meal kits, we’ll send you the same meal kits on your most recent order. If the meal kits you have previously ordered are no longer available and the cut-off time/day for amending your order has elapsed, we will send you a substitution.

Please note: that if you have indicated that your child has a food allergy when creating your subscription, we will not be able to provide a substitute meal kit. In this scenario, we will cancel your order, notify you that your order has been cancelled, and issue a credit to your account. The credit will be automatically applied to your next order.

  • Being a subscription business enables us to reliably predict customer demand for our meal kits. This means we can pass on this information to our suppliers, so they can offer us better prices – savings that help us to keep our meal kits affordable for our customers.

Substitutions

If you order a meal kit and it is no longer available, and the cut-off day / time for amending your order has elapsed, we will send you a substitution. We will substitute the out-of-stock meal kit with a meal kit that we deem to be comparable. However, please note that this is not always possible due to the variety of meal kits that we offer.

Substitutions are only required in rare circumstances where we have problem with supply of fresh ingredients.

Please note: that if you have indicated that your child has a food allergy when creating your subscription, we will not be able to provide a substitute meal kit. In this scenario, we will cancel your order, notify you that your order has been cancelled, and issue a credit to your account. The credit will be automatically applied to your next order.

Skip a delivery

If you need to skip your next delivery, simply log into your account and select skip my next delivery. You can skip a delivery up to 3 days prior to Wednesday and Friday delivery days (midnight on the previous Sunday and Tuesday respectively), and 5 days prior to deliveries on Tuesdays (midnight on the previous Thursday).  Our website is programmed so that you will not be able to make changes to your order if the cut-off day and time has elapsed.

You can pause or cancel your subscription by logging into your account and selecting pause or cancel my subscription.
